The American Yacht Club (AYC) Annual Spring Regatta will consist of:
The first warning signal is scheduled for 12:55 for Friday Coastal Race.
The first warning signal on Saturday/Sunday is scheduled for 10:55.
Tentatively plan for Jules to sail in the Coastal Racing for Saturday & Sunday
The Edlu Race, first sailed in 1954, has long been a classic tune-up race for the around Block Island Race and Block Island Race Week. Followed by a classic party, it is one the must-do events on western Long Island Sound.
The spinnaker course is 32 nm from the Larchmont Breakwater to Gong 11B off Eaton’s Neck and back.
First warning signal at 10:00. Start in Larchmont Harbor.
The Geartester is an early season version of Indian Harbor’s notorious Gearbuster sailed in October. The race varies in length of between 20 and 30 nautical miles depending on conditions. Divisions may include fully-crewed, double-handed, non-spinnaker and one design. While individually scored, special prizes are awarded to the best performing boats in the combined Geartester/Gearbuster. The Geartester is also a qualifying race for the YRA’s Windigo, Sagola, du Moulin, Kings Point and Mertz Trophies!
Competitors are invited back to Indian Harbor following the race for a barbecue on the Club’s South Patio. Complimentary moorings will be available from noon Friday to noon Sunday. See NOR for more details.
First warning signal is schedule for 10:55
The Block Island Race was first held in 1946 and is a qualifier for the North Ocean Racing Trophy (ORC), the Double Handed Ocean Racing Trophy (ORC), the New England Lighthouse Series (PHRF) and the Gulf Stream Series (ORC). The Block Island Race is also a qualifier for the Caper, Sagola and Windigo trophies awarded by the YRA of Long Island Sound and the “Tuna Trophy” for the best combined ORC scores in the Edlu and Storm Trysail Block Island Race.
The Block Island Course Boats will sail from the Start; leave Green Bell “1BI” and Block Island to starboard, to the Finish, leaving Red Bell “32” (The Cows)and Red Nun “2” to starboard.Course distance is 186NM.
First signal noon Friday. Start at Cows (R32).
The Around-the-Island Race or middle distance race (scored separately) on Friday
The warning signal for the first race is 1100 each day
The traditional Two-Day Series on Saturday and Sunday, for boats racing in ORC, One-Design classes, Classics (Spinnaker and Non-Spinnaker), Multihulls, PHRF Navigators (Spinnaker and Non-Spinnaker).
Racing may consist of the following: ﹣ Drop mark races on Rhode Island Sound or Narragansett Bay; ﹣ Navigator style races using marks designated on the South Bay Race Chart or in the sailing instructions;
This race has not been officially scheduled yet and has not been posted to Yacht Scoring at initial publication of Jules 2025 Race Schedule
START LINE
Flat Neck Point. The start line will be between the staff displaying an orange flag on the Race Committee Boat and Red Nun “2” off
START TIME
The first warning signal will be made at 1055 hours. The Sailing Instructions may contain provisions to delay the Start Time in advance.
COURSES
Each Division will be assigned to a course. Course X: Stratford Shoal Light Course, which is 45.7 nautical miles. Course Y: Cable and Anchor Course, which is 28.1 nautical miles. Course Z: Cable and Anchor Short Course, which is 17.3 nautical miles. Additional courses may be designated in the Sailing Instructions.
